2008

Well, Ramblinbrook Kennels has had a busy summer and fall!!  We had a very good little summer circuit, hitting the Bracebridge shows (3), Barrie shows (3), and 1 show at Owen Sound.  Jake had a great little run, taking winners dog all 3 shows at Bracebridge to hit the dreaded 9 points towards his championship.  He was reserve winners at Barrie once, and then had a hormonal meltdown and didn't do anything for the other 2 Barrie shows. He rebounded though at Owen Sound, and under judge Morley Thornton, picked up a big fat 4 point best of winners/best of opposite sex to finish his championship in style!  While he was visiting us here (he lives in Uxbridge with his best friend Scottie and my good friends Connie, Jennifer and Micheal Pogue!) he had his genetic testing done, and passed all with flying colours!  We are now pleased to offer him at stud to approved girls.  Please contact us regarding fees.

Kadie proved herself on this summer circuit as well, taking reserve winners bitch three times, and picking up her first point at the Bracebridge show.  Considering these shows were in the middle of that horrible heat wave we had at the end of July/beginning of August I am very pleased with how well my pups did!  Kadie hates to show as well, so this was really good for her.

Then as if working 6 days a week, and housebreaking a puppy wasn't enough stress, Ramblinbrook Kennels is on the move!!  We have sold the house in Barrie, and are currently looking for a little chateau just outside of the city with a little bit of property to go along with it!  The dogs have handled all the viewings well, and although poor Floyd the cat has ripped a bit of hair out due to stress, we seem to have survived it==but don't want to do it again anytime soon!  Keep your fingers crossed that we find a place to live soon!!  Hopefully I can train the dogs to shovel snow and mow the lawn!!

January 2008

We have found our new home!  It is a huge home with way too much carpet, but it has a lovely fenced in backyard for the dogs.  I will be purchasing many baby gates to try to keep some control!!   The yard is quite large, with a deck for lounging and flowers for sniffing and digging up!  We move at the end of February and both the dogs and cats are looking forward to it!  I will have pictures up soon on the website!

February 2008.
Well, we are into the final countdown!  We move on the 27th of this month, and are busy working and trying to pack.  Of course, the shelties all want to help out!  On top of it all, Jessica decided this was the time to come into heat, so we are busy arranging dates between her and Jake!  We will hopefully have puppies at the end of April.

March 2008
Well, we have moved in and I am currently trying to figure out where everything is!!  We have been busy with renovating the basement for a beautiful bright grooming room.  The dogs are loving the backyard, and have come up with several new games involving Trouble (the baby) including Hide and don't seek the baby, and Prisoner of war (played by putting the baby in the dog enclosure and not letting her out!!)  It is quite exciting living the country-we have seen deer, had our BBQ attacked by coons, and the big excitement was when the baby (all 11 lbs of her) decided to tell off the 4-5 coyotes who were howling in the gravel pit behind us!!  Way too much excitement!
We also have 1 litter confirmed due at the end of April, and another litter possible for the middle of May.  Watch the litter section for updates.

April 2008
The grooming room is almost finished now, and I have been busy trying to get the property cleaned up and ready for spring/summer.  Boy, it's a big yard when you are raking!!
Jessica has also delivered her puppies on the 30th.  She had a litter of 5-all boys!!  She didn't look to be that big during the pregnancy, so to have 5 was a shocker!  I thought she was finished after 4, but 90 mins later, along came another!!!  This will the "J" litter as the parents are Jessica and Jake!  So, the boys have been named Jordan, Justin, James, Jonathon and Julian.  Reservations are being taken for this litter.

May 2008.
Lisa Marie delivered a lovely litter of 3 sable girls on May 8.  It has taken her a few days to clue in that those are her babies, but she is becoming a great mother!

August 2008.
It has been such a busy summer, that keeping the website updated has been difficult.  With all this rain, I have been cutting grass all the time it seems!!   The dogs are loving having their own park in the backyard, and the puppies had a blast gardening and digging very large holes!!!!   All the puppies are sold except Lucinda who I am growing out, and Julian who is looking for a show home.
Kadie has been busy as well.  We hit the Bracebridge shows (where she picked up 2 points), and Barrie shows.  At the Owen Sound show Kadie showed at just 1 show, and came away with Winners bitch, and best of breed over specials (champions) for another 3 points.  She has now blown her coat, so she will get a month or so off to grow some more in.
We are discovering what plants in the flower beds are dog proof, and which ones will need to be transplanted to the front to safer ground!  It will be a busy fall preparing everything for next year!   Pictures will be available soon of the new house and grounds!

October 2008

I have finished my 8th homebred champion!  I took a weekend off to hit the Trout Creek dog show, and Miss Kadie did me proud by finished up her championship in limited showing.  I promised her we will never show her again if she did it, and so now, she is retired from the show ring, but will start a new chapter in her life with maternal duties in 2009.  Jake went with us, and did really well on the first day, before suffering a small hormonal meltdown!!  Oh, those boys!!  It was lovely to get away for a weekend, and the other dogs did well with a new petsitter==at least the house is still standing so I guess it went well!

I have also found a bit of time to add some new pictures to the photo gallery.  Due to being back on dial up, it takes quite a while, so I will update a new album with pictures of the new house shortly!

December 2008

Well, it is that time of the year that groomers both dread and love!!  I am booked for grooming for 22 straight days before Christmas, so everyone else's dogs will look great for Santa Claus-mine, not so much!!  They have been very well behaved, I think they know that January will be quieter and they can get more time with mom then!
